Reading Challenge 2025
Join Queen Takes Book in our inaugural yearly reading challenge! Read one book each month and a behemoth all year long or follow along at your own pace! Maybe you can knock out all of the challenges in one month; maybe you knock out a couple every other month. It's up to you! We're just happy to have you along for the ride.
Our challenge is hosted on The StoryGraph, but we have the prompts listed below and a downloadable PDF so that everyone can participate!
Challenge Prompts
There are 13 reading challenges: one for each month and a bonus challenge that's meant to be completed throughout the entire year.
All Year: Breeze Through a Behemoth
Is there a book that you've always wanted to read, but just haven't found the time or motivation? Consider this your sign: it's time.

Our Picks
Katie: East of Eden by John Steinbeck
Amelia: The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon
Tori: The Terror by Dan Simmons
Join any of us or choose a behemoth of your own!
January: Tackle Your TBR
Read a book that has been on your TBR list for over a year.
February: A Short Month for Short Stories
Read a short story or a collection of short stories.
March: Read Me, I'm Irish!
Read a book somehow connected to Ireland: maybe it's set there, maybe the author is Irish, maybe there's a leprechaun in it.
April: April Fool's Day
Pick a book inspired by April Fool's Day. It can be a funny essay collection or a book that you normally wouldn't read. (Get it? You're "fooling" yourself?) Think outside the box!
May: It's Gonna Be May
Read a book related to music.
June: Myths and Retellings
Read a book that's a retelling or inspired by a myth.
July: Where's Waldo?
Everyone always asks "Where's Waldo?" but no one ever asks "How's Waldo?" What does "Where's Waldo?" mean to you?
August: Escape the Heat
Tired of the heat? So are we. Escape into a world of ice and snow with your read.
September: Better Than School
Reclaim your education by reading a book about a new topic that always interested you, something you've never heard of before, or whatever feels right to you.
October: Spooky Season!
Read a book that encompasses what "spooky season" means to you.
November: Debut Authors
November is for the writers, so join us in supporting authors that made their debut this year!
December: Book Club Picks
Read any of our book club picks from this year. (We have 3 book clubs: general fiction, mystery, and romance.)
